Word to PDF

When to use it

Use it to send a document that should look the same on every device, or to submit it to a portal that only accepts PDF.

How it works

1. Choose your files, or drop them onto the box above. You can add several at once.
2. Add a Word document and confirm the upload. It is converted with LibreOffice on our server.
3. Press the Convert to PDF button.
4. Download the result, or add a next step without downloading.

Where your file goes

The file goes to our conversion server only after you agree. It is converted there and deleted straight away; nothing is kept.

What is kept, and what is not

Text, fonts, images, tables and page layout are kept. Fonts that are not installed on the server are replaced with the closest match.

Limits

• Fonts that are not installed on the conversion server are replaced with the closest available font, which can move line breaks.
• Files up to 100 MB each.
• Very large or complex documents can take too long on the server and are stopped. If that happens, try a smaller file.

If something goes wrong

The layout changed in the PDF

This is usually a missing font. Saving the document with standard fonts, or embedding fonts in Word, avoids it.

The conversion fails or takes too long

Check that the file opens in its own program. Damaged or very large files can fail; a smaller file usually works.

My file is not accepted

Check the formats listed above. A damaged file, or one with the wrong extension, is refused with a message saying why.
