Unzip Files
Open a ZIP archive and get the files inside.
When to use it
Use it to open a ZIP file on a device that has no unzip program, such as a phone or a work computer.
How it works
- Choose a file, or drop it onto the box above.
- The archive is checked first — size, number of files, dangerous paths and zip bombs — and only then opened. Each file can be downloaded or used in the next step.
- Press the Unzip button.
- Download the result, or add a next step without downloading.
Supported formats
- Input
- ZIP
- Output
- The files stored inside the archive
- Files
- One file at a time
Several results can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP.
Where your file goes
This tool runs in your browser: the file is processed on your device and is not uploaded. The Network tab of your browser's developer tools shows this.
What is kept, and what is not
Files come out exactly as they were stored, with their names. Folders are flattened into the file names. Password-protected archives are not supported.
Limits
- Only ZIP archives are supported. RAR, 7z and password-protected archives cannot be opened here.
- Files up to 512 MB each.
- The work happens in your device's memory, so a phone may fail on a file that a computer handles.
If something goes wrong
The archive is refused
Archives that would unpack to an enormous size, or hide files outside the archive, are refused on purpose to protect your device.
The page becomes slow with a very large file
Close other tabs, or use a computer instead of a phone.
My file is not accepted
Check the formats listed above. A damaged file, or one with the wrong extension, is refused with a message saying why.
Questions
What happens to folders?
Folder names become part of the file names, so every file is listed separately.
Can I use the unpacked files straight away?
Yes. Download them, or pass a file to another tool as the next step.
