Convert Image

Change an image to another format.

When to use it

Use it when a website, a form or a program will not take your picture's format, for example a HEIC photo from a phone.

How it works

  1. Choose your files, or drop them onto the box above. You can add several at once.
  2. Pick the output format.
  3. Press the Convert images button.
  4. Download the result, or add a next step without downloading.

Supported formats

Input
JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, SVG
Output
PNG, JPG
Files
One or several; each file is processed on its own

Several results can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP.

Where your file goes

This tool runs in your browser: the file is processed on your device and is not uploaded. The Network tab of your browser's developer tools shows this.

What is kept, and what is not

Camera and location data are removed when an image is re-encoded.

Limits

  • The result can be PNG or JPG. Camera and location details are removed when the picture is saved again.
  • Files up to 512 MB each.
  • Images up to 100 megapixels.
  • The work happens in your device's memory, so a phone may fail on a file that a computer handles.

If something goes wrong

The transparent background disappeared

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas get a solid colour. Choose PNG for pictures with transparent areas.

The page becomes slow with a very large file

Close other tabs, or use a computer instead of a phone.

My file is not accepted

Check the formats listed above. A damaged file, or one with the wrong extension, is refused with a message saying why.

Questions

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG keeps every pixel and transparency; JPG gives much smaller files for photos.

Can I convert several pictures at once?

Yes. Add them together and each one is converted separately.

Continue with the result

The result can go straight into another tool on this page, without downloading it and uploading it again:
