Remove Photo Metadata
See and remove camera details, date and GPS location from photos.
When to use it
Use it before you post or send a photo, to remove where and when it was taken and which camera or phone took it.
How it works
- Choose your files, or drop them onto the box above. You can add several at once.
- The tool shows what the photo reveals — camera, date taken, location — and removes EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and comments without re-encoding the picture.
- Press the Remove metadata button.
- Download the result, or add a next step without downloading.
Supported formats
- Input
- JPG, PNG, WebP
- Output
- The original format (JPG, PNG or WebP); other formats become PNG
- Files
- One or several; each file is processed on its own
Several results can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP.
Where your file goes
This tool runs in your browser: the file is processed on your device and is not uploaded. The Network tab of your browser's developer tools shows this.
What is kept, and what is not
The picture itself stays bit-for-bit identical, with no quality loss. The colour profile and the orientation are kept so the photo still looks and turns the same.
Limits
- It works on JPG, PNG and WebP. Other formats are not accepted here.
- Files up to 512 MB each.
- Images up to 100 megapixels.
- The work happens in your device's memory, so a phone may fail on a file that a computer handles.
If something goes wrong
The photo turned sideways
Keep the orientation option switched on; it keeps the setting that tells viewers which way is up.
The page becomes slow with a very large file
Close other tabs, or use a computer instead of a phone.
My file is not accepted
Check the formats listed above. A damaged file, or one with the wrong extension, is refused with a message saying why.
Questions
What exactly is removed?
EXIF, GPS, XMP and IPTC data and comments. The tool first shows what the photo reveals.
Does the photo lose quality?
No. The picture itself is not encoded again, so it stays identical.
Continue with the result
The result can go straight into another tool on this page, without downloading it and uploading it again:
