Resize Image
Make images smaller.
When to use it
Use it to make photos smaller for email, a website or a form that limits picture dimensions.
How it works
- Choose your files, or drop them onto the box above. You can add several at once.
- Set a maximum width. Images are never enlarged.
- Press the Resize images button.
- Download the result, or add a next step without downloading.
Supported formats
- Input
- JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, SVG
- Output
- The original format (JPG, PNG or WebP); other formats become PNG
- Files
- One or several; each file is processed on its own
Several results can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP.
Where your file goes
This tool runs in your browser: the file is processed on your device and is not uploaded. The Network tab of your browser's developer tools shows this.
What is kept, and what is not
Aspect ratio is kept. Metadata is removed on re-encode.
Limits
- You set the largest width in pixels; the height follows so the proportions stay the same. A target file size cannot be set.
- Files up to 512 MB each.
- Images up to 100 megapixels.
- The work happens in your device's memory, so a phone may fail on a file that a computer handles.
If something goes wrong
The picture did not change
Pictures that are already narrower than the width you set are never enlarged.
The page becomes slow with a very large file
Close other tabs, or use a computer instead of a phone.
My file is not accepted
Check the formats listed above. A damaged file, or one with the wrong extension, is refused with a message saying why.
Questions
How do I make the file smaller too?
Add Compress Image as the next step. Fewer pixels plus compression gives the smallest file.
Is the format kept?
JPG, PNG and WebP keep their format; other formats are saved as PNG.
