Crop Image

Keep the part of the picture you want.

When to use it

Use it to cut a picture to a square for a profile, remove edges from a scan or keep just the part that matters.

How it works

  1. Choose your files, or drop them onto the box above. You can add several at once.
  2. Drag the rectangle on the picture, or type exact numbers. A locked ratio keeps the shape, and applies to every picture in a batch.
  3. Press the Crop image button.
  4. Download the result, or add a next step without downloading.

Supported formats

Input
JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, SVG
Output
The original format (JPG, PNG or WebP); other formats become PNG
Files
One or several; each file is processed on its own

Several results can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP.

Where your file goes

This tool runs in your browser: the file is processed on your device and is not uploaded. The Network tab of your browser's developer tools shows this.

What is kept, and what is not

The pixels you keep are copied untouched — nothing is scaled. JPG, PNG and WebP keep their format; HEIC, TIFF, SVG, GIF and BMP, which a browser cannot write, come out as PNG. A rectangle that falls outside the picture is refused before anything is written.

Limits

  • The crop is a rectangle. Rotating, straightening or round crops are not available here.
  • Files up to 512 MB each.
  • Images up to 100 megapixels.
  • The work happens in your device's memory, so a phone may fail on a file that a computer handles.

If something goes wrong

The crop is refused

The rectangle must lie inside the picture. Drag it back inside, or correct the numbers.

The page becomes slow with a very large file

Close other tabs, or use a computer instead of a phone.

My file is not accepted

Check the formats listed above. A damaged file, or one with the wrong extension, is refused with a message saying why.

Questions

Can I crop several pictures the same way?

Yes. Lock a ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9 and every picture in the batch is cut to that shape.

Does cropping reduce quality?

The pixels you keep are not scaled. JPG files are saved again, which can add a slight loss.
