Rotate PDF

Turn pages 90, 180 or 270 degrees.

When to use it

Use it when scanned pages appear sideways or upside down, or when a landscape page should open the right way round.

How it works

  1. Choose a file, or drop it onto the box above.
  2. Pick an angle. PDFs only support 90, 180 and 270 degrees.
  3. Press the Rotate pages button.
  4. Download the result, or add a next step without downloading.

Where your file goes

This tool runs in your browser: the file is processed on your device and is not uploaded. The Network tab of your browser's developer tools shows this.

What is kept, and what is not

Rotation is stored as page metadata, so nothing is re-rendered.

Limits

  • Every page of the file is turned by the same angle. Turning only some pages is not supported here.
  • Files up to 512 MB each.
  • PDF documents up to 5,000 pages.
  • The work happens in your device's memory, so a phone may fail on a file that a computer handles.

If something goes wrong

The page still looks crooked

Rotation works in steps of 90 degrees. A scan that is slightly tilted cannot be straightened by rotating the page.

The PDF asks for a password

Remove the password first with Unlock PDF (you need to know it), then try again.

The page becomes slow with a very large file

Close other tabs, or use a computer instead of a phone.

My file is not accepted

Check the formats listed above. A damaged file, or one with the wrong extension, is refused with a message saying why.

Questions

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Rotation is saved as a page setting, so text and images are not redrawn.

Which way does 90 degrees turn?

Clockwise. Choose 270 degrees to turn a page a quarter turn the other way.
